An Aspiration Through the Merit I Have Made
ខ្មែរបទកាព្យ — Khmer Devotional Verse
English Meaning
Through the merit I have cultivated, I humbly bow in body and speech. May I be blessed with happiness, freed from suffering, and cross to the further shore — Nibbāna.
In every life and every existence, may I never be separated from morality and generosity. May I have right understanding and follow the path to Nibbāna. May the Path and its Fruits be the bridge leading to that noble destination.
I dedicate the fruits of this merit to my mother and father, to my teachers and preceptors, and to my relatives through the generations.
To my grandparents and ancestors, whether living or departed and wherever they may be, I dedicate this abundant merit. May they have peace and well-being and ultimately reach freedom from suffering.
I make this sincere aspiration: in whatever life I may be born, may I live happily and possess clear and discerning wisdom. May I be freed from suffering and ultimately attain Nibbāna.
